My Hypothesis: Teacher's frequently assert their personal power within their language (Wareing)
Data Collection: I plan to record four different female teachers settling their class down and beginning a plenary.
I am looking at the methods they use that follow power theories but also the techniques they use to engage their classes (linking in with the maxims).
Problems: The language is also affected by the age of their class, their experience (PGCE student compared to a qualified teacher), their natural style and receptiveness of their students on that day.

Also, if you only use females, you cannot generalise to 'teachers' so you will need to address that.
